Arbor Reports, Consultation and Advice
Tree Loppers are not Arborists! Tree loppers do not have the training or knowledge that arborists have. Many people are unaware of this and therefore assume that all contractors in the tree industry provide comparable services, this couldn’t be further from the truth!
When employing a contractor always ensure that they are qualified to a minimum AQF Level 3 in Arboriculture or a AQF Level 3 in Horticulture (Arboriculture). A qualified Arborist will provide insurance details and will be happy to provide qualifications along with their quote. It is important to see these documents, as this is your safeguard and peace of mind.
Arborists are usually members of professional organizations such as the International Society of Arboriculture Australia Chapter (ISAAC) , Queensland Arboricultural Association etc. These organisations have websites which contain a substantial amount of relative information concerning regulations, training, information regarding tree problems, pests, tree disease, workshops, qualified contractors listings and much more.
Working with large trees can be dangerous and very physically challenging. It is always recommended that an arborist should be engaged when carrying out any tree removals or pruning. Correct tree pruning methods will ensure that your trees are healthy, attractive and will help prevent the development of disease/decay and other serious problems associated with incorrect pruning and tree lopping.
An Arborist will determine the type of pruning that is necessary to improve the structure, health, appearance, and safety of your trees. Trees will be removed/pruned using safe and controlled techniques. All pruning is carried out following the Australian Standard AS4373 2007.
Most importantly, saving maybe a few hundred dollars by using a Tree Lopper may potentially cost you a lot more in the long run! Don’t be afraid to ask to see their qualifications and all reputable companies should provide you with a quote and their insurance details.
